PPA2 - Card Sketch

Card Front

Inside of Card - Pop-Up Gift Card

Side View of Pop-Up Gift Card Holder

This is my take on PPA2 Card Sketch. I used the "Extreme Surfboard" Stamp (#115173, pg 80) and the "Just Surfing" Stamp set (#115012, pg 79). I am always looking for stamps that can be used on a masculine card and having two near teenage boys, this stamp will get used.

I wanted to play around with making a pop-up card that I saw on Julie Buhler's blog. Last week I saw on Splitcoaststampers where Crystal made it into a pop-up gift card holder (ironically she also used the Extreme Surfboard stamp). To make the gift card holder, I used a 4x4 piece of paper folded in half. I used a 1" circle punch in the center.

The paper is "To the Nines” Specialty Designer Series Paper (#114038, pg 163), with "Sahara Sand" and "Chocolate Chip" . I sponged all the paper edges first in Sahara Sand Ink getting more of the color on the paper. I than lightly touched the edges of the paper with the sponge of Chocolate Chip Ink.

  1. Fabulous! Really creative and surprising interior.

  2. Cool card, Karen! I love the inside. As the mother of a son, I love to see masculine cards. Great interpretation of the sketch, and a great 'pop' up card. Thanks for playing @ the PPA, and join us again next week for our inspiration challenge!

  3. Love the gift card holder feature of this card! Wow!!

  4. Your card is fantastic, Karen! I like how you interpreted the sketch and made a masculine card! The surfer stamp is wonderful and I love how the embossing accentuates the water. Thanks for participating in PPA's first sketch challenge!

  10. Congrats Karen on being picked at ppa!! It is a great card!! {I'm ordering the surfer stamp today}.

  11. What a great card! I love the set and the paper you used - and this is an awesome layout with the gift card holder inside. AWESOME!

  12. Can I ask how you got the {brackets} on the inside layer of your sentiment on the front of the card? I know the "frame" of it is the new SU punch - but how did you get your inside piece to layer and have the cute brackets? THANKS

  13. Hi Karen,

I used the Modern Label Punch to layer the back of the modern label punch. I cut the middle of the punch in half. The middle of the modern label punch is the same width so you can stretch the cut piece out a little (make it longer). I hope I am making sense. I really like this punch.

Thanks for looking and posting comments! ~Karen
