Side View of Pop-Up Gift Card Holder
This is my take on PPA2 Card Sketch. I used the "Extreme Surfboard" Stamp (#115173, pg 80) and the "Just Surfing" Stamp set (#115012, pg 79). I am always looking for stamps that can be used on a masculine card and having two near teenage boys, this stamp will get used.
I wanted to play around with making a pop-up card that I saw on Julie Buhler's blog. Last week I saw on Splitcoaststampers where Crystal made it into a pop-up gift card holder (ironically she also used the Extreme Surfboard stamp). To make the gift card holder, I used a 4x4 piece of paper folded in half. I used a 1" circle punch in the center.
The paper is "To the Nines” Specialty Designer Series Paper (#114038, pg 163), with "Sahara Sand" and "Chocolate Chip" . I sponged all the paper edges first in Sahara Sand Ink getting more of the color on the paper. I than lightly touched the edges of the paper with the sponge of Chocolate Chip Ink.

Great card - love the inside!
ReplyDeleteFabulous! Really creative and surprising interior.
ReplyDeleteCool card, Karen! I love the inside. As the mother of a son, I love to see masculine cards. Great interpretation of the sketch, and a great 'pop' up card. Thanks for playing @ the PPA, and join us again next week for our inspiration challenge!
ReplyDeleteLove the gift card holder feature of this card! Wow!!
ReplyDeleteYour card is fantastic, Karen! I like how you interpreted the sketch and made a masculine card! The surfer stamp is wonderful and I love how the embossing accentuates the water. Thanks for participating in PPA's first sketch challenge!

Congrats Karen on being picked at ppa!! It is a great card!! {I'm ordering the surfer stamp today}.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great card! I love the set and the paper you used - and this is an awesome layout with the gift card holder inside. AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteCan I ask how you got the {brackets} on the inside layer of your sentiment on the front of the card? I know the "frame" of it is the new SU punch - but how did you get your inside piece to layer and have the cute brackets? THANKS
ReplyDeleteHi Karen,
ReplyDeleteI used the Modern Label Punch to layer the back of the modern label punch. I cut the middle of the punch in half. The middle of the modern label punch is the same width so you can stretch the cut piece out a little (make it longer). I hope I am making sense. I really like this punch.
Thanks for looking and posting comments! ~Karen
