Sunflower Clips

Here's a a few Sunflower Clips I made using the Beautiful Bunch Stamp Set, Fun Flower Punch and some clothespins.  These were very easy and quick to put together.

These are great to use to top off Gift Bags, Gift Baskets and Refrigerator Magnets Clips (if you add a magnet to the back of the pin).

Thanks for stopping by and letting me know what you think.

Thanks,
Karen

Altered Notebooks

Here's a couple Altered Composition Notebooks I made yesterday.  The first one is for me and the one below is for my husband.  The top one I used the new Typeset Designer Series Paper...which I LOVE!  The thinnest of the paper is nice to work with to cover these notebooks.  I topped it off with some retired Black Satin Ribbon and Textured Real Red Cardstock.  I had to pull out the retired Lovely Letters Stamp set to monogram the notebook for me.   Before I covered the back flap, I attached a piece of ribbon to the top inside to use as my bookmark for the notebook.  I liked the way it came out.

My husband liked it and wanted one for himself.  For his I used the Maritime Designer Series Paper on the outside and some retired Nautical Expedition Designer Series Paper.  I used the 7/8" Cotton Ribbon for the bookmark and to cover the seam.

Don't forget now is the best time to stock up on those composition notebooks.

Let me know what you think!

Notebook with Pen Gifts

When I was at Stampin Up's Catalog Premiere, I received a decorated notebook from a very nice lady named Ellen.  I fell in love with the little notebook.  I came home and searched for some little notebooks.  I ordered a bunch and I got to work on decorating some.  Here is what I came up with so far.  The Nautical One is for my daughter's teacher, her classroom is a Nautical Theme.  The paper is retired but the colors worked for her.  The stamp set is from the Occasion Mini.

The other one is for my daughter.  She has a thing for notebooks and wanted one for herself.  She picked the flowers and colors.

Blank
Notebook Measures 3.25" x 4.25"
If you are like me and you want to order some of these notebooks, I got the Perfectly Plain Collection Notebook Favors With Pen , 48  from Amazon.  The minimum is 48 notebooks.   If you do not want to order 48 notebooks.  I have some I can sell, you have two options.

Acrylic Post-It Note Holder-Swallowtail Butterfly

Here is an Acrylic Post-it Note Holder done with the Swallowtail Butterfly Stamp Set.  I gave this to my daughter's teacher with the Altered Book that will be on tomorrow's post.    I love the Swallowtail Stamp Set and love using it with the New In-Colors.

If you need more information on how to make these, you can take a look at the one I made last year.

Let me know what you think!

Notepad Holders using Clear-Mount Stamp Cases

Here's a view of a couple Notepad Holders I made with Stampin' Up! Clear-Mount Stamp Cases. These can be found on page 205 in the IBC 2011-2012. They come in a pack of 4 for $5.95. These are for my daughter's teachers, as a welcome back to school gift.

If you have not seen these cases, they have a sleeve on the outside of the case where I slipped in my decorative paper (don't you love that paper - sneak peek). I wrapped a ribbon around the middle of the case (I secure the ribbon with a little bit of Sticky Strip so the ribbon does not move around. I am sorry about the picture, it is hard to take a good picture because of the sleeve gives off a glare. These little guys are so cute and you don't have to worry about them getting dirty because you can wipe them off.

The note pads are regularly 5" x 8" notepads, I got these at Staples. **You have to trim the notepads to fit inside the cases. They will cut a stack of notepads for you. You will need them to cut the pads to 7 1/4".

Outside: I used the New Designer Series Paper - Spice Cake - (Can be found in the Holiday Mini pg 17). I love this paper, it so pretty. The colors are Soft Suede, More Mustard, Pool Party, Pear Pizzazz, River Rock, Very Vanilla. The paper sleeve: The bottom half is 5" x 10 5/8". I punched a narrow strip of Soft Suede Paper or Pool Party with the Scallop Trim Border (#118402) and attached it to the very top of the bottom half Designer Series Paper. I next attached a strip of 2" x 10 5/8" to the top of the Scallop Border. This is when Stampin' Up Grid Paper ((pg 207 #102787) comes in handy because you want the whole strip to be 7" x 10 5/8". Before slipping the paper into the case, I added a letter; cut from the Bigz Die Serif Essentials Alphabet (pg 223 #113464) to the front. After the paper sleeve is in the case, I attached my ribbon.

Inside: (Is a picture of mine) I used one of the leftover strips (it was 5" x ? I think it was 2") to cover the top of the notepad so it matched. I put some sticky strip to the back of the notepad and attached it to the inside of the case. On the left side of the case. I sealed one of the Medium Envelopes - Very Vanilla (#107300) and trimmed the side to 4 1/2". I attached the envelope to the left side of the case. The little envelope on top of the big envelope is a leftover piece from a Small Open-end Envelope that I had leftover from making photo wallet (I am glad I saved those babies). They make a prefect place to hold business cards. I did use my Round Tab Punch (#119864) to add the tabs to my inside pockets.

I hope you enjoyed the post today. Tomorrow I will post another little gift I made for the teachers. If you have any questions, please leave me a comment or send me an email.

Thanks for looking,

Karen

Altered Frame

This is an altered picture frame that I made for my husband's desk at work. A couple years ago we all dressed up as Pirates for Halloween, our daughter was a Pirate Princess. I have been looking for a frame for the picture. I gave up and decided to alter one instead.

I started messing with this wood frame that I picked up at the dollar store. (It did come with a glass panel but I removed it to take a picture.) I used Black Craft ink sponged the frame, than I used Classic Red Ink. Boy was that a mistake because when I Mod-Podge the frame the red ink made the frame have a pink hue, not what I was going for. Lesson learn...next time only use craft ink and do not mod-podge over classic ink.

So I took the frame back to the drawing board, so to speak. I sponged more black craft ink and than I decided to embossed it with clear embossing powder, wow that made a difference. I added the strip of Real Red cardstock and a leftover strip from last year's Halloween DSP. I added the two gold brads to match the gold coins on her shirt. The stamp came from the "Beware Pirates" stamp set (#115187, pg 81). This is one of the stamps in the "Growing Up" section of the catalog. Don't forget from August 1–31, get a FREE package of Designer buttons—a $7.95 value—when you spend $35 on stamp sets in the Growing Up section of the catalog.

My husband did love the frame and proudly took the frame into work, Yeah! If you have any questions, please send me an email or leave me a comment.

Thanks,
Karen
