Our Creative Corner - Off the Page Challenge

A couple weeks ago, Tui Nathan asked me to be a Guest Designer this week for "Our Creative Corner".  I was so honored and I couldn't wait to play along. The challenge this week is:  "Over the Edge" - create a card, or paper craft item with a design element that is not restricted to the boundaries of the card edges, and continues to flow off the edge of the card, for instance this could be a die cut element, a sentiment banner, a fussy cut image, ribbon etc. Push your design to the edge .... and have fun!"

If you have not notice, lately I have been in love with these multi-loop bows, so I knew this would be the item that went off the page.  I am not sure about you but I usually always start with designs in my head, I have to think it through before I sit down to create something.  Oh course sometimes, I do sit down and what I was thinking, just was not working out.  This was one of the cards, I'm not sure why but this is my second attempt. I could not find room on the front of the card for the saying.  That is when I decided to turn it into a Easel Card.  Take a look at the Easel Card Open, which I guess when you look at it open, the frame-lit is another element that flows off the card.

Mixed Bunch meets Twitterpated DSP

Crazy week so far, Monday our power went out for about 6 hours and when it came back up, I had no internet, until late Monday Night.  :o(   Yesterday I have been  working on a make-n-take for a crop this weekend and I broke my big shot.  AAARRGGHHH.  To tell you the true, I am not sure what happen, it just got locked and than it clicked and now I can use it but it just takes longer.  It clicks and wants to spit out my sandwich.   Oh course it is older than 3 years, so the warranty is no longer good.  I have to order a new one because honestly, I can't live without my big shot.  I use it all the time.  

Back to the post, this is the other card that I had at my workshop this past weekend.  I wanted to show the Twitterpated Designer Series Paper, Mixed Bunch Stamp Set, Blossom Punch and the new Designer Buttons (I love these buttons, great size).   I know this card has a lot of punching but the customers loved making this card.  I also showcased how to center the border punch on the card.

Swap Card - Framelit Label Fold

Here's a card that I made for a local Demo swap, I know this card took some time.  Luckily, I only had to make 15.  I made this into a Mother's Day card but it could easily be use for with any occasion but no matter the occasion the receiver will know the love that was put into this card.  Sorry, I keep using these colors together but I can't help it, I just love the color combo.

This card is similar to the Valentine Treats I made for my daughter which can be found here but I scored at 2" and 5 1/4" (starting at the label end).     I hope that makes sense.   The cardbase is 4" x 5 1/2"

Lovely as a Tree - Birthday

I needed an easy masculine card for a workshop that I have this Sunday.  When I was working on my husband's card from the Sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, I was reminded of the card that Tracey made from "My Creative Side", her card used the tree image from the Lovely as a Tree Stamp Set and I really liked it.  I thought I would use that image on the card this weekend.  This image is an easy image to watercolor.   Are you surprised I did not sponge the edges or use any shimmer mist.  Did you see the card I made yesterday using the same sketch.

FMS21 Sail Away with me

The name of the stamp set, always brings the David Gray song to mind, such a great song.  Here's a card that I made using Sketch # 21 from Freshly Made Sketches this week.  I needed to make my honey a Valentine's Day Card, and I thought this sketch was a great start.  My husband loves sail boats so I grab the "Sail Away" retired stamp and some leftover retired Designer Series Paper - Nautical Expedition.  Now I know this stamp and Designer Series Paper are retired but both are available as downloads on "My Digital Studio".  Did you know that during the month of February you can download the 30 day Free Trail?   Tomorrow, I will show you another card that I made using the same sketch but with all current products.

"Going Long" Freshly Made Sketches #20

Today I took a little break from getting my tax stuff together.  I needed a little stamping therapy, so I decided to play along with the wonderful sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.   I had fun making this card, it has been a long time since I made a long card.  This card measures 6" x 3".   The color combo is a little out of my comfort zone; Blushing Bride, Riding Hood Red, Whisper White, and Twitterpated Designer Series Paper.   I pulled out one of my favorite flower stamp set, Greenhouse Garden.

Mixed Bunch Simple Card

I had fun playing with the Mixed Bunch Stamp Set and Blossom Punch from the Mini Occasion Catalog.  I decided to use it to try and create some simple cards, which is very hard for me.  I usually end up adding too many layers and embellishments.  This is the first try, what do you think?  I felt like the top corner was a little empty, so of course I added another embellishments.  Take a look at the card below.  

I added a butterfly from the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Dies.  What do you think, does either card count as a simple card?  I am hoping for simple but stunning card.   Let me know what you think.
