Simply Sketched Christmas Card

I am not sure about you, I love the New Holiday Catalog but was not happy with the selection of Christmas Stamp Sets.  There are not a lot of my style stamp sets.  I know I may need to change my style but I find that if I am not crazy about a stamp it is hard for me to be creative with that stamp.  I have bought enough of popular stamps because I see some great samples.  Of course I know it is not my style and it will sit on my shelf until it retires.  I am trying not to do that this year.

This year, I am looking through my stamps and see what Christmas Cards I can create using some non-Christmas stamp sets, like the card above.  If you have not noticed the Simply Sketched Hostess Stamp Set in the Big Catalog, pg 205.  You should really take a look at it.  I love that stamp set.  If you like to watercolor a little, this is your stamp.  I am not sure the name of the branch image, but I saw berries and I thought, oh I will color those red and make that a Christmas branch.  I stamped the image twice in Gold Ink and Embossed with the Gold Embossing powder.  The button is from the Very Vintage Designer Buttons that I inked and embossed with Gold.  I had to include the new Baked Brown Sugar Ruffle Stretch Trim - (I love this ribbon and the new in-colors).  Lately I have been sponging my edges with the Baked Brown Sugar instead of my old stand-by Soft Suede.  It is just a little lighter in color than the Soft Suede but I think it gives it a nice hue.  Below is a look at the inside.

Now don't get me wrong, I did purchase some Christmas Stamps from the new Holiday Catalog. In the next couple days I will be showing you a card using the "Special Season" Stamp from the Holiday Catalog.  I am not sure how many people purchased this stamp set but I liked it (I also usually pick the stamp set that is less popular and it does not carry over.)  :o(

I also used this sketch from Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch Challenge.  I usually save card sketches to my pinterest board so they are in one place.

If you have any questions, leave a comment or send me an email.

Thanks for looking,
Karen

  2. Hi Diane - No you are not crazy - I guess I am, hahaha. Sorry about that. I usually copy the supplies from a previous post and just make changes, I guess I forgot to change the paper section. I fixed it now. Thank you! - Karen

    1. Hi Diane, On the left sidebar there is a link to the Homemade Shimmer Spray Recipe. I use the retired Shimmer Paint. I still have some bottles. I hope this helps.
